Compare concrete quotes on the same scope
Compare dimensions, ground preparation, thickness, reinforcement, drainage, finish and exclusions before comparing the total. Two prices can describe very different work.
Make one project description
Write down the intended use, approximate dimensions, access restrictions and existing surface. Give each contractor the same description. Ask them to identify assumptions that need a site visit rather than treating an initial conversation as a final price.
Separate inclusions from allowances
A useful proposal identifies excavation, removal, disposal, base preparation, reinforcement, joints, finish and cleanup. If a line is an allowance, ask what changes it. Keep optional decorative work separate so you can compare the essential installation.
Resolve changes before signing
Ask how hidden ground conditions or a changed layout are priced and approved. Keep the written scope, agreed drawings and change process together. Do not assume the website guarantees a contractor's work or contractual terms.

Local planning sources: Town of Fort Mill permitting and stormwater and land-disturbance forms. Check the authority responsible for your property; requirements depend on the project.
