Choose a concrete finish with maintenance in mind
Choose a finish by use, traction, appearance and maintenance together. A decorative pattern can add visual detail, but it does not replace a suitable base, drainage plan or joint layout.
Start with the use
A driveway, patio and walking route face different loads and wet-weather conditions. Describe who uses the space and how. Ask the installer which finish options fit that use rather than selecting from a picture alone.
Review the whole surface
Look at samples in daylight and discuss how texture, color variation, borders and joints will appear across the full project. Concrete and sealer appearance can vary with materials and conditions; a reference photo is not a promise of an identical result.
Ask about ongoing care
Request cleaning and resealing guidance for the proposed products. Understand what maintenance falls to the homeowner, which products to avoid and how future wear may look. Do not assume a decorative surface is maintenance-free.
