Prepare a concrete project before the first quote
Prepare a sketch, approximate measurements, photos of the existing space and a short description of its intended use. Then identify access, drainage and jurisdiction questions that require a professional assessment.
Measure to describe, not to design
Use approximate length and width to explain the project. Note slopes, doorways, property edges, drains and existing structures. These observations help a contractor assess the site; they do not replace surveying, design or permit review.
Make access visible
Describe gates, narrow side yards, landscaping and where equipment could reach the work. Mention an occupied driveway or a shared access route. Access constraints may change both the construction approach and the estimate.
Confirm the right local authority
A Fort Mill mailing address alone does not establish the permitting jurisdiction. Check the property with the relevant local office before assuming town or county requirements. The Town's permitting page is a starting point for properties within its jurisdiction.

Local planning sources: Town of Fort Mill permitting and stormwater and land-disturbance forms. Check the authority responsible for your property; requirements depend on the project.
